| The short answer is, males make a better pet than the females. You should have them neutered. This prevents them from marking territory and usually they won't even lift their leg to potty...they stand on all fours and squat. As far as housetraining, whether they are easy to train or not, has nothing to do with gender. Males bond closer to the family, especially a woman. Think about it, Mother Nature instilled in the male animal a desire to gravitate to a female. It works with the human animal as well. Females are in general a calmer dog than the males. Females can tend to be more independent as adults and can have a little attitude at times. Males don't. They also blow their coats twice a year, the males do not so they are actually a prettier dog. The neutering process is less invasive therefore lowers the chance for infection and is less expensive. It's not that I don't like females, I love them ALL! But ask any breeder of toy dogs, 9 out of 10 will tell you they prefer a male dog as a pet over the females. |
